From forest green emu eggs to soaps made with goat's milk, the Westport Farmers Market kick-started its second season at the Westport Country Playhouse with a wide range of farm raised and homemade goods, while sporting a new expanded two-day schedule and more vendors.
The market — which began last year as a result of a collaboration between the town of Westport, Paul Newman and organic chef Michel Nischan — was started with the aim of giving local farmers, bakers and food producers another outlet to sell their homegrown and handmade items, said Rebecca Howe, chairwoman of the market's steering committee.
"(The goal was) to bring local Connecticut farmers and artisan food producers into Westport to strengthen their economic position," she said. Thursdays The Westport Country Playhouse 25 Powers Court 10am - 2pm www.westportplayhouse.org
